A flowchart is a diagram showing the steps used to complete a chore. A flowchart is used in many different types of businesses but is commonly know as an accounting tool. An accounts payable flowchart would show the steps that need to be taken from the time the bill is received until it is paid and documented.
Typically flowcharts are made with boxes and lines showing the choice of steps to take. Flowcharts are used for documenting, analyzing and managing the process. The first flowchart was made in 1921 by Frank Gilbreth for an engineering project.
