One of the jobs in a business is the accounting department. One of the chores in the accounting department is bookkeeping. A bookkeeper also known as the accounting clerk is the person that enters the financial transactions into the books. The accountant then creates the reports based on the transactions entered into the books.
There are 2 types of bookkeeping used by businesses. The first is single-entry bookkeeping and the second is double-entry bookkeeping. With single-entry bookkeeping the primary book is the cash book which handles the expenses and income. With double-entry bookkeeping the transactions are entered two times, ensuring the integrity.
